Illinois casino revenue climbs to $143.8m in May

Illinois' 15 casinos saw a notable rise in revenue during May, with a collective total of $143.8 million marking a 5.3 percent increase from the previous month's $136.6 million. Annual Gross Revenue (AGR) showed even stronger growth, up by 17.8 percent year-over-year.

Most of the casinos experienced month-on-month revenue gains, reflecting a robust performance across the board. Electronic gaming devices contributed significantly, accounting for $107.2 million of May's revenue, while table games brought in $36.6 million.

Rivers Casino led the pack with $44.7 million in revenue, up by 5.8 percent. Meanwhile, Grand Victoria Casino recorded $12.1 million, showing a slight decline of 2.3 percent. Bally's Chicago saw a notable increase of 10.6 percent, reaching $12.7 million. Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel followed with $10.5 million, up by 2.5 percent. The Temporary by American Place rounded out the top five with $9.1 million, reflecting a modest decrease of 3.8 percent compared to the previous month.

Walkers Bluff Casino led with the largest monthly revenue jump percentage-wise, soaring by 15.36 percent. DraftKings at Casino Queen followed closely with the same increase of 15.36 percent, while Hollywood Casino at Joliet experienced a substantial 12.22 percent increase.

In terms of contributions to state taxes, Illinois' casinos collectively paid $27.3 million. For the year, these establishments have accumulated over $689.4 million in revenue, reflecting a robust economic contribution to the state.
